St Helen’s College has been involved in the accreditation programme for 14 years.

In 2018 they successfully applied for funding for new scooter parking at the lower school site. In 2019 and 2020 they successfully bid for and received almost £1000 in funding from the council to go towards road safety and active travel initiatives at the school.

The borough team were so impressed they invited the school and the student working group to Guildhall to present to the Council.

In 2023 St Helen’s achieved Gold accreditation. The activities they chose included;

  • A sponsored walk for years 7-10, designed by the year 7 school travel working group. Year 10 have been recruited as stewards and motivators
  • A smoothie bike to look at cycling in a new and fun way (see image)

  • Presented the annual plan to the governors and SLT
  • Developed a flower wall as part of our commitment to eco-schools
