Step 2. Start identifying your travel issues

You don’t need to be an expert to identify how the school-run affects your students, staff and local community. This step involves determining what is important to you.

It might be reducing car traffic, improving the health and wellbeing of your students, or achieving your sustainability targets. We’ll help you find out how your students currently travel to school and understand how those choices affect their safety, wellbeing, and the local environment.

Step three: Setting your targets

Now you have identified the problem, it's time to start thinking about solutions. What steps do you need to take to tackle the issues you've identified? Work together with the student working group and leadership teams to set SMART targets that can really make a difference.

Step four: Deliver!

There are plenty of activities for you to choose from. You can browse and filter all the activities by age, category or type to get the activities most suited to your school. You can save your favourite activities and manage them in “My activities”. This planning tool makes it easy for you to view the steps and resources, upload your story and track your progress towards accreditation.

Step five: Apply for accreditation

You apply for accreditation in July and you are awarded accreditation September.
