About the activity

Young people have the power to make their voices heard and to make a real difference to the world. Whether presenting an assembly, video or podcast, there are many ways to get their message out there. In this activity, pupils will discover the skills and qualities of a good presenter, learn and practise techniques for an entertaining presentation, and prepare an inspiring speech to promote their project.

How to evidence your activity

Upload a photo of students working on their speeches or a photo of the speech scripts marked for pausing and emphasising.

Activity steps

Step 1

Preparation. Familiarise yourself with the PowerPoint and teachers notes beneath the slides and print the accompanying speeches for your pupils

Step 2

Practise. Run the activities with your pupils, building their confidence with positive feedback and giving them time to present their speeches within the class setting

Step 3

Add one or two of the speeches to an upcoming assembly such as Earth Day, World Environment Day or Walk to School week to give pupils the opportunity to present to a wider audience

Step 4

Share your top tips for presenting with the wider school community via your newsletter, podcast or website

Step 5

Tell your story! Upload your evidence to 'My activities'
