Our Top Schools Awards will be held on Monday 19 May at the Kia Oval London. We look forward to welcoming our finalist schools on the day!

Nominations are now closed for the TfL Top Schools Awards. The TfL Travel for Life team host an annual awards celebration to recognise the best work by schools in the programme. Whether your school has been part of the programme for years or are new to our programmes, it's a great opportunity to celebrate your achievements, be inspired and network with other schools.
What does it take to be a Top School?
To receive a TfL Travel for Life Top Schools Award you’ll need to have done something a bit special in the school year September 2023 - August 2024. Maybe your project was really creative or innovative, or maybe you’ve got powerful evidence that you changed the way people travel. Maybe you just started on the programme and brought a new energy to it or did something that inspired others make changes.

Who can nominate?
Nominations are now closed. For each category, we shortlist four schools, who are invited to the Top Schools Award to find out if they are the London-wide category winner. Shortlisted schools can bring up to five pupils to our Top Schools Awards celebration, which take place at the Kia Oval. Look out for our shortlisted announcements on 5 March 2025.

What will happen at the Awards?
Our TfL Travel for Life Top Schools Awards is an action-packed day with lots of engaging activities, pupil networking, celebration and recognition for all schools, and of course a great chance to take some great photographs at the wonderful Kia Oval.

TfL Travel for Life Top Schools Categories:
Our categories offer a great opportunity to celebrate and recognise the amazing work across London Schools. Our annual awards event is a great opportunity to showcase innovative initiatives in schools, incentivise students and staff and learn from some great keynote speakers.
Schools that did not have Bronze, Silver or Gold Accreditation between September 2020 and July 2022. Tell us about how your school got TfL Travel for Life set up and working in the last one or two years. What did they want to achieve as part of TfL Travel for Life? How did they get students, teachers and parents enthused about taking part? What barriers did they have to overcome? What projects and activities did they do? What were their biggest successes? How did they check for success?
Schools that are currently Gold Accredited, and have held Gold since at least September 2017. Tell us about how long your school has been taking part in TfL Travel for Life. What did they want to achieve? How did they keep students, teachers and parents enthused about taking part? How has TfL Travel for Life become embedded in the school culture? What projects and activities did they do? What were their biggest successes? How did they check for success?
Any school who can show they have successfully encouraged a significant decrease in car use, and/or a significant increase in any form of active or sustainable travel. Tell us about how your school has shown an significant away from car use, or increased active travel. This can include a move from car use to Park and Stride or Car Share. This could also include a move from buses to active travel, or a strong increase in cycling. What projects and activities did they do?
Any school actively taking part in TfL Travel for Life in the school year running September 2023 to July 2024. Tell us about how your school created a campaign to communicate a TfL Travel for Life issue. How did you plan your campaign? What was the issue, and what change did you want to see? How did you make people aware of the issue? How did you encourage change around that issues ? What barriers did you have to overcome? What projects and activities did you do?
For schools who have created a new activity or campaign, or reimagined an existing one. What was the problem the school wanted to solve? What was the new or creative activity they invented? How did they come up with the new idea? How were the students involved in coming up with the new idea? How did they get students, teachers and parents enthused about taking part? What barriers did they have to overcome? ? What was the biggest success? What was the most fun thing about the project?
Any school actively taking part in TfL Travel for Life in the school year running September 2023 to July 2024 We want to hear about the ways in which taking part in TfL Travel for Life has helped students develop in confidence, leadership, creativity, problem solving skills, or has inspired them to learn or think about their future careers. How has the school used TfL Travel for Life projects to help students develop skills?
