How to evidence your stories

How to evidence your stories

Evidencing your stories doesn’t need to be complicated – it is often as simple as a single file or a screengrab. Most stories require one document or file, but some stories count as three towards your accreditation so require a little bit more. These are new so if you have any questions get in touch with the TfL Travel for Life team or your borough officer.

Evidence is used to showcase the hard work you have put into the activity. If you don’t have evidence to hand, don’t worry. We can work with you to provide what is needed.

Evidence suggestions are:

Travel activity - something to show it took place! Find a picture of your pupils walking and caption it “children walking to school as part of the step count competition”, or a screen grab of an email thanking a speaker for their time in school.

Supporting - you could evidence this with a PowerPoint or lesson plan to show the activities you did.

Consultation - you may wish to share a screengrab of an email to parents and carers, or the results of a survey.

What else can I use as evidence?

Please see examples below of things you may wish to include.

  • Screenshots – for example, an email sent following an activity or visit
  • Photos - either shoulders down or back of head shots
  • Scans of your pupils’ work
  • Newsletters – share a screenshot of the relevant section
  • Presentations – for example a PowerPoint from a school assembly

Higher value activity cards

The below stories count as three stories towards your accreditation. This is because they require a bit more effort and usually involve a few different tasks that fall into promoting active travel, supporting or promoting and consulting. We ask for three documents for evidence so think about photos, screen grabs or pie charts that could show your work. To make it even easier, you can drop your evidence into the PowerPoint here and attach as one document: Uploading Evidence

Please note that there is no need go back and add evidence retrospectively, although the higher value will apply from Sept 2024.

A few activity cards do not require evidence as TfL are already involved, and they are;

Your borough officer may enquire about these activities but evidence is not mandatory.

Top tip!

Upload evidence to your documents on the website. You can assign an activity there and then. This will make it much quicker when it comes to telling your story.
